“You would never imagine such color and vibrancy, in this underground hidden gem, right in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, UT! As soon as you enter, you are greeted with a smile, then sent to your table.
Your server brings you some of their tasty salsas and…a mole sampler! I know!!! Ah-mazing!!! It’s so hard to choose, but we dove right into their botanas (aka appetizers), with Jalepeño Rancheros and Queso Fundido
We didn’t stop there, we also got several entrées, with the star of the show ~ a huge, and I mean HUGE Molcajete Bowl!!! It had shrimp! It had steak! It had chicken! It had chiles! It had cactus! And, it had huge chunks of cheeeese!!! I mean…it should just be called “Heaven, In A Bowl!”
Top everything off with a Peach Margarita and finish off with some postres (aka desserts), then you’re golden! Almost everyone got Deep Fried Ice Creams, but my heart belongs to their Flan! It’s made with this dark/rich caramel sauce and will only leave you wishing you ordered pieces!!!
I can’t wait to go back and try ALL THE THINGS, because everything so far, has been super fantastic!!!”

Give Me More Mole
“I was visiting family in the area and they brought me here. They told me the food was excellent and they were right. If you like mole, this is the right place to come. I’ve never seen so many different kinds on a menu anywhere else. There were the usual ones and a few kinds I had never heard of.
When I had difficulty deciding, the server brought me a sample of each of them on a small plate. I tasted them all and still had trouble deciding since they were all so good. I finally made a decision and ordered it with chicken as my choice of meat. It was excellent. It was tasty, well cooked, and hot off the stove.”

Came here with my family. It was great. The service was wonderful. Friendly, polite, and on point. The food was amazing! I got steak quesadilla! Perfection! My parents got floutas and they said they were delicious. My cousin got the fish tacos and inhaled them, they were so wonderful. I also have to mention the salsa. I loved it. Lastly, the atmosphere was wonderful. Highly recommend this place.

Blue Iguana Mexican Restaurant is centered in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. Tucked away from the rest of the city, we truly are a hidden gem. Nonetheless, our restaurant isn’t too hard to find – so be sure to come in and try some of the most authentic Mexican food in downtown Salt Lake City.

Visiting Utah? We love our out-of-state customers too! We are only ten minutes away from the Salt Lake City International Airport, which means we’re the perfect first meal to have after getting off the plane or while you’re trying to get the most out of your layover. We’re also right by the City Creek Mall—one of our beautiful city’s finest upscale shopping experiences. So come down to the city for the day and enjoy a meal and drink with us and see what downtown SLC is all about.

Find Us in Salt Lake City!
You can find Blue Iguana in downtown Salt Lake City, right off West Temple on 200 S. For convenience you can park in the parking garage at 175 S. West Temple (we validate parking!). We’re across the street from the Salt Palace Convention Center, right underneath Benihana.
From the parking garage, you can use the elevator on weekdays. Go to the first floor and exit out the building’s lobby into the alley. Coming for dinner? Please remember that the elevator typically closes at 6 pm, so you’ll most likely have to go around to the garage’s entrance to get back to your vehicle. Once you’re in the alley, you’ll see our signature blue tunnel entrance and bright neon sign. Go through the tunnel, down the stairs, and then you’ll be at Blue Iguana!
Need wheelchair access? Please call us at 801-593-8900 and we’ll help you access our restaurant via an elevator that will take you to our kitchen. From there, you’ll be able to access our dining room and enjoy our vibrant atmosphere and taste our amazing Mexican food.
